Fears for RWBY Volume 4

Before I get started I want to say that I LOVE RWBY and I only make this post because I love it. It's one of my favorite if not my favorite anime filled with enjoyable characters, great music and good animation for a low budget internet series. I make this post with love not hate. So when I go into more detail just know it comes from someone who wants this show to stay great and become better.

Volume 3 overall was pretty damn good. The tonal shift was needed (though it could've been handled better), it had that, in lack of a better term, BIG feeling to it and the ending was a great way to keep people wanting more. However with all that being said I feel like the direction going forward will be that of the end of Volume 3. An overly dark, depressing circle jerk rather than the Wizard of Oz style journey across Remnant set up at the end.

Now what do I mean by that? Well, the last 4 episodes of Volume 3 were pretty damn dark. I won't give any major spoilers for those who haven't watched the series yet but let's just say you're going to need a drink.....All of them.

This tone worked very well here given the theme of the season foreshadowed by the opening theme song "Fall". However it wouldn't really work next season given the aforementioned set up. A slightly slower pace, lighter tone and a more organic flow through out, rather than the whiplash tonal shift of Volume 3. The story itself should be more character driven with some backstory on certain characters (CoughRenandNoraCough) and character development. It should be the season ware the characters get their shit together after what transpired.

If Rooster Teeth keeps this tone throughout Volume 4 (which is highly possible) it'll become boring, predictable and an absolute chore to sit through. Nothing but the same shit we've seen a thousand times. Not saying things need to go back to the days were the biggest problem our characters faced was fitting in at school but a healthy balance of mature and levity.

Of course my fears and concerns could be due to the fact that most of the fandom has been beating off to this like no tomorrow. Unfounded and illogical yes but this sort of thing tends to happen were the fandom predicts things for a show or movie and it ends up happening. I'd rather not have RWBY turn into something dime a dozen schlock like Madoka Magica (shots fired).

Anyways those are just my thoughts. Do you agree or disagree? If so let me know.

Thanks for reading.
